Before IrisVision
Bob Walker, 92, was diagnosed with macular degeneration 20 years ago. He was suffering from hearing impairment as well but lip reading always helped him in communication but with AMD showing its effects, it all became tough. Bob has also been getting injections for wet macular degeneration for the past 10 years. “Iris Vision has enabled me to do many things that I had given up years ago, such as Reading books with a regular print, Watching TV and reading closed captions, Reading labels on medication bottles and other containers” Bob enjoys being independent and doing his daily chores with IrisVision. “I like watching scenery and wildlife, sorting and reading mails, reading the hardcopy and softcopy documents, seeing performers, & lecturers showing projected images and other relevant information.” He likes to play cards with his friends and family, and also watch sports being able to see players’ faces and detailed performances.
After IrisVision
Bob feels lucky to be in a local support group because he got to know about IrisVision headset from there. With quick and quality coaching sessions, Bob adapted to the headset perfectly and now there isn’t a day when he doesn’t use the IrisVision headset. Bob likes to keep an external battery of the headset because there are some days when he uses it for an extended period for time.
